Research   Abstract  No.73                              Report on Research and Development of Srinakharinwirot                                                   University Employees (Phase I)                                                                             By                                                 Behavioral Science Research Institute                                                            Faculty of Social Sciences                                    The Establishing Faculty of Nursing Science Project                                                                         and                                     Central Department Srinakharinwirot University                The Study is the first stage of the Research and Development of Employees' Quality of Life.  The aim was to study the problematic areas : socio - economic status, physical health and psychological characteristics of SWU employees in order to get information for developing their quality of life in these areas in the next phases.  The data used for analysis were collected from 337 permanent and temporary employees out of the total of 360 employees at Prasanmitr.  Research tools used in this study consisted of socio - economic status inventory, physical health and important behaviors affecting physical health questionnaire, physical health checklist and psychological characteristics questionnaire (mental health, self concept, satisfaction and work value).  It was found that for all the three areas, most of the employees were about average.  The main problems in the area of the socio - economic status were the large number of dependents, not enough income against expenses, and the need for additional income.  For physical health, problems about eyes, teeth, and climate allergy were found.  As for the psychological characteristics, there were problems of family dissatisfaction, low self concept in the personality and personal relation aspects, low life dissatisfaction, and low working value in the discipline aspect.  All these findings were evidences that indicate a need to develop the employees' quality of life in the three areas by appropriate strategies. | SWU |   | BSRI |
