Wiriya Dangwisut. 1995. A Study of Variables Relating to the Intention in Selecting a Job at Health Center of the 2 Year Program Nursing Students at Nursing College, Ministry of Public Health. The research had four objectives: 1) To study the relationship between intention to select a job at the Health Center and external variables. attitude towards selecting a job at the Health center and subjective norms. 2) To search for important predictiors of intention to select a job at the Health Center. 3) To compare belief in outcomes of selecting jobs at the Health Center, normative beliefs and motivation to comply to them between nursing students with intention to select a job at the Health Center and without. 4) To compare intention to select a job at the Health Center according to different bio-social characteristics, attitude towards the nursing profession, Buddhist beliefs and Buddhist practice. Two hundred and fifty six of the 2 nd year nursing students at the Nursing College, Ministry of Public Health were selected for the study by the simple random sampling techniqe. Questionnaires were used to collect data on all bio-social variables. attitudes towards selecting a job at the Health Center, subjective norms. intentions to select a job at the Health Center, attitudes towards nursing profession, Buddhist beliefs and Buddhist practice. Pearson's correlation, multiple regression analysis, t-test and Two-way analysis of Variance were used to analyze the data. The results were as follows: 1. Attitudes towards the nursing profession Buddhist beliefs, attitudes towards selecting a job at Health Centers and subjective norms were significantly (P <. 05) correlated with intention to select a job at Health Centers 2. Subjective norm was a significant predictor (P < .05 ) of the intention to select a job at Health Centers and the coefficient of determination was 17.66 % Attitude towards selecting a job at Health Centers was not a good predictor of the intention to select a job at Health Centers. 3. Attitudes towards nursing profession, Buddhist beliefs, attitudes towards selecting a job at Health Centers and subjective norms significantly predicted (P < .05) the intention of selecting a job at Health Centers and the coefficient of determination was 18.58 % The significant change in correlation (P < .05) from attitude towards selecting a job at Health Centers and subjective norms was .85 % 4. Nursing students' normative beliefs were significantly different in all question items between subjcts who intended and did not intend to select a job at Health Centers. 5. Nursing students' motivation to comply are not significantly different in all question items between subjects who intend and do not intend to select jobs at Health Centers. 6. There was no interaction effect between attitude towards selecting a job at Health Centers and bio-social variables in nursing students who had intention to select a job at Health Centers. 7. There was no interaction effect between Budhist beliefs and Buddhist practices on the intention to select a job at Health Centers. But it was found that high scoring students in Buddhist beliefs significantly intended to select a job at Health Centers more than low scoring ones. | SWU | | BSRI |
