Ratchada Sopon. (2003). Effects of Sensitivity Training on Empathy of Srinakharinwirot University Students. Master Thesis, The Master of Science degree in Applied Behavioral Science Research. Bangkok : Graduated School, Srinakharinwirot University. Advisor committee : Associate Prof. Ashara Sucaromana, Dr. Pannee Boonprakob. The purpose of this experimental research were to study the effects of applying sensitivity training on empathy for Srinakharinwirot University students and to study interaction between gender and sensitivity training. The subjects were students in Faculty of Medicine at Srinakharinwirot University whose empathy score were the lowest in this group of 38 students. The subjects were then divided into two groups by simple random sampling technique. The first one participated an experimental group of 19 students and the other served as the control group. Research instruments were sensitivity training program and the empathy test which consisted of 5 elements - Understanding others, Developing others, Service orientation, Leveraging diversity, and Political awareness. The research design was a randomized control group pretest - posttest design. The t - test for depentdent samples, the t - test for independent sample and two way ANOVA were used to analyze data. The research findings were as follows : 1. After participating in sensitivity training, the experimental group showed their empathy elements of developing others, and service orientation, which were higher than before the experiment at .01 level of significance, and their empathies with Political awareness element were also higher at .05 level. 2. The students who participated in the experimental group got their empathies of understanding others and leveraging diversity, higher than those students in the control group at .01 level of significance; their empathies with developing others and service orientation were also higher at .05 level of significance. 3. The male students who participated in the sensitivity training program got their empathies of leveraging diversity higher than the other subjects who had other empathy element at .05 level of significance.
