The purposes of this study were as follow : (1) to study the relationship between backgrounds, psychological characteristics and work climate and work efficiency of elementary teachers (2) to investigate interactive effects of backgrounds and psychological characteristics on work efficiency of elementary teachers (3) to investigate interactive effects of psychological characteristics and work climate on work efficiency of elementary teachers ,and (4) ) to predict work efficiency of elementary teachers from backgrounds , work climate and psychological characteristics. The sample in this study consisted of 400 elementary teachers of Bangkok Metropolitan under quality accreditation. Instruments used in this study were seven inventories as follows : (1) personal questionnaire (2) work efficiency of elementary teachers scale (3) work climate scale (4) mental health scale (5) attitude toward teachers career scale (6) future orientation scale ,and (7) self - efficacy scale. Data were analyzed by using Person product-moment correlation, analysis of variance and multiple regression analysis. The findings were summarized as follow : 1. Teachers of older age , more experience and higher income showed greater work efficiency than there of younger age , less experience and lower income . 2. Psychological characteristics and work climate were positively correlated with work efficiency of elementary teachers. 3. The interactive effects of psychological characteristics and work climate on work efficiency of elementary teachers were not found at .05 significant level. However there were significant main effect of psychological characteristics and work climate on work efficiency of elementary teachers of Bangkok Metropolitan under quality accreditation . 4. Self - efficacy , work climate, future orientation , mental health and income could explain 53.40 % of variance in work efficiency of elementary teachers.
